October brought some interesting new twists to this email contest. After winning last month Rebecca sent out this Acceptance Speech to all the others September's Top Ten. Then Brent responded. Then Shannon added her comments. Then Chris commented on his wife's email.
And then the race began in earnest. Rebecca insisted that she was not participating however she continued to send an average of 13 messages per day... much more than that some days. Meanwhile Shannon took seriously her self-appointed task of at least making the top five (as she had only done once before). Soon that goal changed to actually placing first. For the last half of the month Shannon put up an intense effort, flooding me with email. And if she's started one or two days earlier she probably would have won. But... she didn't. So in spite of her protests, Rebecca wins once again.
As usual, I provide a graph of all those people who averaged more than one message per day. There are some interesting parts. Note the middle of the month, where Shannon and Ron fought for second place. Then note the dash Shannon made toward first... coming just short at the end. It is also interesting to note that Rebecca kept a steady pace, while Shannon sent mail in spurts about once a week.
