These are some UNEDITED clips from the vacation that seemed somewhat interesting. I had hoped to edit something together that was a nice little presentation, but did not have time. As it is, I waded through the couple hours of video I had, and am posting the few segments I thought were most interesting.
I took video of a few of the roads on the way from Reno to Grantsville. These are larger roads than I was on later in the vacation. But when I was on the really small roads I had to concentrate on driving. On these you can see my wonderful combined driving/camerawork.
I made it to the ghost town of Grantsville Nevada, abotu 6 miles as the crow flies from my actual random spot. I wandered around for awhile looking at the various abandoned buildings. These are the highlights.
As you can read about in detail, I got stuck in the mud trying to get to my spot. This is an overview of the place I got stuck and where I camped. You get a much better sense from the video than the still pictures.
A full account of my last 500 feet to this quarters actual random spot. Mostly consists of me huffing and puffing up and around Mahogany Hill while trying to approach the spot. Then a few views from the spot.
After having gotten stuck on the way in, I decide that on the way back, I must conquer the spot which had thwarted me before.
The tow plane pulls the glider off the ground. Unfortunately, being absent minded, I forgot to turn the camera on for the release at 10000 feet. Oh well!
I have a 22 minute bit of video of my glider lesson. Unfortunately the camera was pointed at the chair. And I don't really have space to post that whole video. Email me if you really want to see it. But for those who really want it (I've had a request or two) here is the audio from the lesson. (It is over a slow connection, so will take a long time to donwload.)
And then finally of course there was the landing. After he lands he just rolls right off the runway to the parking area.
