We’re here. We’re finally at the election. So of course Sam and Ivan talk about the definition of Univeral Time. Well, just for a few minutes. Then they skip the rest of the usual random stuff and just get to the politics. We know that is what you are all here for. They do a final look at the Election Graphs analysis of the polling situation. They talk about the latest attempts to make something happen with Hunter Biden. They talk about both the possibilities of Trump pulling out another win by the skin of his teeth and the possibility of a Biden landslide. Of course, they touch on voter suppression, SCOTUS, and the pandemic as well. Oh, and Ivan might be live streaming election night. So watch out for that! So here we go. The last show before election day!

Ed joins Sam on this week’s Curmudgeon’s Corner. Ed educates Sam on the new “Right to Try” law. They discuss if Trump actually has malicious motivations or actually believes he is doing positive things, specifically with regard to how he is handling relations with America’s allies. And finally, they talk about how a complicated story like the Trump/Russia investigation just leaves people confused and tired, while constant repetition of “witch hunt!” is a simple clear message that penetrates to those who are inclined to believe it. Yet another full show!

This week on the Curmudgeon’s Corner podcast Sam is joined by guest co-hosts Ed and Bruce. Ed’s segment is mostly about the healthcare debate, with a touch of budget talk and a note on the Ides of Trump. Then Bruce joins the show to provide a Libertarian perspective on Trump’s first eight weeks in office. And even though he is out this week, Ivan wasn’t going to be left out completely, so he sent in a letter with his thoughts for the week.

This week on the Curmudgeon’s Corner podcast Sam and Ivan talk about television, thermostats, manipulating public opinion and a few other things besides Election 2016, but of course most of the show ends up being about the election. They cover the last gasp Sanders path to the nomination, Trump zig-zagging on the issues, the Republican civil war, and possible Trump VPs. Oh, and Sam’s son Alex keeps interrupting to promote his YouTube channel.

This week’s Curmudgeon’s Corner was recorded before the attacks in Paris, so that will have to wait for next week. In the mean time, Sam is joined by new guest cohost Amber for a different kind of show. Very little politics or tech this week. Instead we talk driver’s licenses and coverage of science in the media as our main topics, followed by a lightning round where we touch on the use and development of language, the red Starbucks cups, and yeah, Sam does sneak in a couple minutes on the last Republican debate.

This has been a crazy week for me, so I’ve basically been underwater, and not able to keep up with current events they way I usually like to. Really, I’m just starting to pay attention now. Remarkably, it looks like the US cable networks are actually doing some live coverage. But they still suck. Try heading over to the Al Jazeera English Live Stream.
There are of course all sorts of online blog type coverage as well. As usual, one of the best is Andrew Sullivan, who links to all sorts of other relevant sources.
