April was difficult. Started out with 979 pictures for the month. Narrowed down to 77 in the first pass through looking for pictures worth posting. Then had to narrow it down to 30 (one per day) for this post. The last cull was tough! Anyway, here goes…

2013-03-08 04:17 – Hanging out ON Daddy

2014-03-11 15:22 – Roscoe was nervous because he had to go to the vet for some surgery.

2014-03-12 00:44 – But while Roscoe was at the vet, Alex’s finger got hurt and we had to go to the ER. I posted the whole story.

2014-03-12 01:16 (Picture by Amy) – Since we were at the ER, Amy picked Roscoe up from the vet.

2014-03-12 02:09 – Some sedatives and a couple stitches later, Alex was on the way to healing.

2014-03-12 05:10 – Roscoe was recovering well from his surgery too, although he was not thrilled with the cone.

2014-03-15 23:14 – Just a few days later it was time for an expedition with Grandma Ruth to find snow in the mountains

Taken Friday when we got to visit and watch Alex in his classroom at school for 20 minutes.

Jupiter Again

Probably about as good a Jupiter as I will be able to get with just the camera.* But hey, you can see the stripes!!!

Produced by taking 30 individual pictures (1/125, f/6.5, ISO 80) and then aligning and “stacking” them to get more detail than any of the individual photos showed. (I used Lynkeos.) Then I adjusted the color a bit.

The 30 pictures were taken from 06:46:00 UTC to 06:46:27 UTC tonight

This is fun. I of course will have to try Saturn sometime soon…. once it is relatively high in the sky at an hour I tend to be awake, which looks like it won’t be until March or April.

Also on the list to try… seeing if I can use Brandy’s telescope in conjunction with the camera to do anything interesting. Not sure it will work with this particular camera and that particular telescope, but worth a shot…

Oh, and maybe some pictures of things that aren’t in the sky. :-)

* Some internet searches of course reveal that people have done significantly better than the above using the same camera, but hey, it was my first night trying this technique!

Orion Descending

More playing with the camera. That is Orion setting over our house.

Stars are nice. Click the image for an enbiggened version.

Also, while nowhere near as pretty as the others, I was impressed I could even get the shot below at all:

That’s Jupiter. And her moons Io, Europa, Callisto and Ganymede.

I know, I know, just blobs of light. But still…

This is a fun camera. :-)
