I think it has more to do with how much you use your eyes for closeup work. Now if you were a farm worker, (who didnВґt read either) you probably wouldnВґt need them.
@RMB, yes, seeing better feels good, but they told me it might take a bit of time to get used to the progressives (plus new regular Rx) and sure enough, I spent most of Thursday with a headache and wanting to lie down and close my eyes. They said to give it a week or two to get used to it. Hopefully today will be nicer!
@DM: Perhaps. They say that the changes in your eye happen very predictably with age, pretty much no matter how you use your eyes (although I’m sure there is an effect there too), but of course how much you notice or care will depend on what you are trying to do…

I think mine have always had the astigmatism part. But yeah, that would make a difference!
